"The game will test you, but never fold. Stay ten toes down. It's not on you, It's in you, and what's in you, they can never take away" - Nipsey Hustle
"Honoring your word really means quit honoring your excuses." -Thom Shea
Why can't this be easier? I just don't have the time to do that anymore. It feels impossible and I just don't have the energy any more. All phrases used when motivation runs out and excuses creep in.
I'm just as guilty as anyone of saying and believing them. To quote navy seal Thom Shea "excuses are so seductive because they are believable". Life get's hectic and chaotic at times, unforeseen schedule changes, weather, tragedies, etc. that it very easy to get off track. Situations in life can make it feel impossible to make progress or stay committed to promises we have made to others and mainly ourselves. But I'm here to tell you it's possible, not easy but possible. We all have in ourselves to live the life we dream of and accomplish goals we set out to accomplish.
Here are some helpful tips to help keep you on or get back on track.
Ask yourself tough questions and be honest with yourself: Is doing this the person I want to become would do? Will this activity or thought pattern bring me closer to where I want to be or help me achieve the results I promised myself I'd reach?
Take a breath and start swinging: You're never out of the fight until you stop fighting. The feeling of being overwhelmed, tired or afraid will pass, that is the thing about feelings, they always change. If you take 10 deep, slow breaths you can change your whole mindset.
Eating the elephant: Break things down into small steps. Get detailed and make a road map to help you focus only on the step in front of you and not the end of the journey. You can't eat an elephant at once, but you can eat it one bite at a time.
These tips are nothing new, but it is helpful to be reminded. What ever journey you started, you are already closer to the end than you are to the beginning. You've already reached the point of no return. Keep moving forward, you have what it takes. Stay the course!
